Creating Social and Relational Impact

Amy Williams reminds Christians to think soberly about their position in the work of Christian community development. As Christian community developers, we acknowledge that we are joining in work that God started before our arrival and that God will continue after our departure. As a result, we reject the tendency to see people as personal projects and we honor the privilege of entering into community with those in our local neighborhood.

Amy frames the work of creating social and relational impact through the following three questions:

  1. How do you see God?
  2. How do you see people?
  3. How do you see yourself?

Amy “Hope Dealer” Williams is a certified gang intervention specialist and works with youth in the criminal justice system. She is a task force member for the National Institute for Juvenile Justice Ministries and a steering committee member for the CCDA Mass Incarceration Task Force. www.ahopedealer.org
