Uprooting Ableism: Finding Roots in Jesus’ Example — Jody Michele, Andrea Mae, & Andrew Draper
Those in the disability community face higher rates of poverty, violence, and isolation than other populations. Ableism, the often subtle belief that people with disabilities are not as important or valuable as able-bodied people, must be challenged in order to address these social justice issues. In Scripture, Jesus gives human dignity to people with disabilities, and challenges our understanding of the meaning of being created in the image of God. Come learn with us how the church can impact millions of people’s lives by addressing ableism and uprooting it from the communities in which we are rooted.
