Indiana Resident Wins Ticket to Reconcile 2012
CCDA Conference Coordinator, Sado Park, interviews our 2011 National Conference Survey winner, Mark Daugherty. Mark will be given a round-trip ticket, free lodging and complimentary conference registration to the CCDA 2012 National Conference in the Twin Cities.
“I thought it was a marketing scam when I first saw the winner notification email,” says Mark Daugherty “then a couple days later as I was finally reading the email I told my wife, ‘Listen to this. You’re not going to believe it.’ ” Among the 550+ people who completed the 2011 Post-Conference online survey, Mark was randomly selected as the winner for the expense-covered trip to 2012 CCDA Conference in the Twin Cities.
Mark and his wife, Chisato, attended the CCDA Conference for the first time in Indianapolis last year. Living near Nashville, Indiana, a small town an hour south of Indianapolis, Mark and his family attend Parkview Church of the Nazarene. Mark confesses, however, that he did not attend any church very seriously and purposefully until about three years ago. At age 59, he had come to the conclusion: I only have 10 more effective years of my life. With this realization and the help of his pastor, David Hayes, he not only came to commit to his local church but also to his local community. Two years ago his family started a community garden for the local neighborhood through his church. He came to the CCDA Conference for inspiration and networking opportunities. And now, excited for the CCDA 2012 Conference, Mark takes this invaluable opportunity as a sign that God wants him to be encouraged in his continual efforts to do Christian Community Development.
