CCDA has influenced both my personal life as well as our approach to ministry in very big ways. Our urban church in Waterloo, Iowa has many people with lots of different needs. Before we were introduced to Christian Community Development, we had several programs that were charity based, but did very little to empower the people we served.

“CCDA has revolutionized the way we carry out our mission.”
Since we have learned about the principles of CCD, our outlook on serving and our outreach methods have changed drastically. Among the many changes in our approach to serving under resourced people in our community, our senior pastors have moved across the street from the church in order to live and serve in the neighborhood, we have started a Youth Art Team in partnership with a suburban church, and have had a Christmas store in partnership with our neighborhood’s Boys and Girls Club and our suburban church partners. This allows people to buy brand new Christmas gifts at significantly discounted prices (between $5 – $10).
CCDA inspires us each year at the conference. The many books and resources available have given us deeper insight into the practice of CCD, and we are grateful for the ways CCDA has revolutionized the way we carry out our mission.
