At CCDA, we celebrate the insights, experiences, and contributions of women not just during Women’s History Month, but all year round. Learn from the legacy of women at CCDA through these eight empowering workshops we invite you to engage with this month.
Embracing The Significance Of Women In Ministry
This workshop will present the opportunity to engage in dialogue around the need and potential for the increase of women’s leadership in the big “C” Church and each of our individual contexts. Marie and Dan will provide biblical examples and address traditionally challenging passages regarding women in leadership, and Jesus’ engagement with women during his ministry. We will discuss healthy relationships between women and men, and how righteous relationships benefit the church.
Uplifting Black Mamas, Embracing Life
Optimal maternal and infant health is every mama and every baby’s right! Black mamas and babies’ health are often disproportionately sabotaged by systemic racism, harmful policies, discrimination, and violence. The maternal mortality rate for Black women is three times the rate for white women in the United States. Access to quality health care, structural racism, and implicit bias from health care providers, as well as underlying chronic conditions, contribute to this maddening reality. Come learn how this public health crisis is impacting our communities and what we can do to build safer and thriving futures for Black Mamas, their babies, and our whole communities.
Thriving Singleness
As CCD Practitioners, we seek to engage and find belonging in our neighborhoods, churches, and workplaces. However, for those of us who are single, navigating a culture and systems built for traditional families can be isolating and create barriers to our work. In this workshop, participants will explore the experiences and perspectives of those who are single and connect on how we can build healthy community.
Art For Wholistic Wellbeing
Join us to experience the benefits of creating collective art for wholistic wellbeing and will come away with strategies to facilitate similar art projects in your own community. We will create a collaborative paper mosaic that will embrace the uniqueness of each participant while coming together as a beautiful, unified whole. While participants create their individual tiles, Ginny will lead a discussion on the connection between art and wholistic wellbeing and walk participants through strategies to design art projects targeting specific wellbeing benefits.
White Women Work
This is a “safe space” for “white women” to do this work – together! We will begin with a historical baseline of understanding; and, break up into small group contemplative listening circles for story processing around individual heritage stories and lifestyles of inclusiveness.
Stories: A Starting Point For Advocacy
The starting point for many people who do justice is a personal connection to their own stories, or the stories of those around them, of being affected by an injustice. Participants in this workshop will learn how to tell their personal stories in healing ways to influence elected officials, decision-makers, and public opinion. Presenters will discuss how to tell stories effectively and give time for participants to outline their stories. There will also be a section on how to get a letter to the editor or op ed published, and best practices for emailing or meeting with legislators.
Embracing Righteousness Through Haudenosaunee Thanksgiving And Reciprocity
Join us for an enlightening and transformative workshop that delves into the profound concepts of right living, Haudenosaunee Thanksgiving, and the power of reciprocity. The Haudenosaunee Thanksgiving is a rich cultural heritage of the Haudenosaunee people and their Thanksgiving tradition. Learn about the significance of giving thanks for the Earth’s bounty and the beautiful teachings embedded within this practice. Experience how practicing reciprocity fosters a sense of interconnectedness and breaks down self-centered tendencies. Rooted in the wisdom of Indigenous traditions, this workshop aims to guide participants towards a deeper understanding of our interconnectedness with the land, each other, and ourselves.
From Spiritual Bypassing To Entering Into Each Other’s Pain
This workshop seeks to define spiritual bypassing, identify how it’s operated in our lives and ministries, unpack how it has negatively impacted mental health and spiritual health, individually and communally, and explore new ways of being with each other during times of emotional pain.
Join us this year for the CCDA National Conference!
You won’t want to miss this time to gather together as a family.
