About Charles
Agitate, Organize, Educate have been Charles’ guiding principles throughout his life. Raised in Newport News, Virginia, he assumed an early activist role in voter registration campaigns, civil rights demonstrations, international affairs camps and marches, including the 1963 March on Washington. Presently, he co-pastors Kingdom United Fellowship church and MarketPlace Resource Center, which is a new church plant at the campus of Buckroe Baptist Church and the first Marketplace Resource Center that houses agencies and services under one roof to provide wrap-around services to clients and community residents. Charles has been the recipient of many awards and citations for his community work in Virginia and Maryland.
About Eddie
Eddie Howard is the Executive Director of Abundant Life Ministries and a lifelong resident of Charlottesville’s Prospect neighborhood, the community he now serves. He first joined Abundant Life in the early 2000s, helping launch the 5/8 Program for middle school boys and building relationships that continue to shape his leadership. After several years in Chesapeake, VA, as a business owner, mentor, and pastor, Eddie returned to Abundant Life in 2021 with expanded experience and a renewed commitment to community transformation.
Eddie’s work centers on poverty alleviation, wealth building, and long-term opportunity creation through trades, entrepreneurship, and career development. His leadership is informed by personal experience with restorative justice, peacebuilding, and navigating the challenges of incarceration, addiction, and renewal. Since his release in 1999, he has dedicated his life to helping others break cycles of bondage and build sustainable futures.
He is the author of Still Convicted, a powerful reflection on the fight between freedom and bondage that has inspired readers to believe in the possibility of transformation and success.
