The dynamic story of Jonathan Irons’ wrongful incarceration for 23 years made national news when Hall of Fame basketball legend, Maya Moore, stepped away from her on-court career to enter the court of law to help free him. Jonathan was finally freed in 2020.
The Return (produced in partnership between Win With Justice, Christian Community Development Association (CCDA), and VOICES from Our Daily Bread Ministries) follows Jonathan as he returns to prison to confront the demons of the past: violence, despair, and injustice, to inspire the men he left behind at a maximum security prison. Five years after his release, Jonathan brings with him a message of hope and possibility–that the stigma of incarceration doesn’t have to define them. He also brings the support system he’s met along the way: his wife, Maya Moore Irons, Grammy award-winning artist-activists, Lecrae and Tedashii, and organizations that have come together to support his return to a place of trauma, turning it into a temple of triumph.
