Description
Decades of community development have been fueled by good intensions, but have our efforts accomplished all that we hoped for? Are our philanthropic efforts adapting to a changing landscape, or are we stuck in our old ways? We will look at the call for change in the philanthropic sector being heralded locally & globally, the ways that the power brokers unknowingly create dependency and barriers to long-term sustainability of community efforts, and practical steps that NGOs and donors can take to change this by adopting models of empowerment and asset-based community-driven development. Attendees will learn how to advocate for change within their spheres of influence, and adopt a new model of charitable work.
