Track: Market Square
Presenter: Randy White
Randy White and his family moved from suburban Clovis in 1993 to Fresno’s highest crime, highest poverty community to seek its peace. They still serve there, and in some of Fresno’s most vulnerable neighborhoods. After founding the IVCF Fresno Institute for Urban Leadership working with emerging leaders, he then worked internationally as head of the Bakke Graduate University global doctoral degree programs, training leaders from 39 countries for urban transformation. He is the author of many articles and books including: Encounter God in the City (IVP 2006), The Work of Our Hands (2012), and Out of Nazareth: Christ-Centered Civic Transformation in Unlikely Places (Urban Loft 2017)
White is the Director of the FPU Center for Community Transformation (CCT) (cctfresno.org), a Community Benefit Organization serving the San Joaquin Valley of California. His organization has helped catalyze 43 small social enterprises in Fresno since 2013, with double the national success rate. These enterprises hired more than 260 people, many with barriers to employment. The CCT also trains Spanish Speaking leaders in community transformation, does Human Trafficking data tracking, trains churches in homeless outreach, and coordinates the Mayor’s Faith Based Partnership Cabinet. He is also Associate Professor of Community Transformation at FPU Biblical Seminary.
White’s doctorate is in Global Urban Leadership from Bakke Graduate University. He holds two Masters degrees, one in Christian Studies from New College Berkeley and the other in Urban Sociology and Community Development from Fresno Pacific University. He has been married to Tina for 41 years, has two married sons and six grandchildren. For fun he enjoys creating art glass mosaics, and recently took up the Irish Fiddle.
