Inclusive Opportunity Zone Investments for Christian Community Development –Jerome Garciano, Ruben Alonso, & Ashlee Barker, & James Malone

With billions of dollars flowing into opportunity zones, those who care deeply about Christian Community Development in under-resourced communities want to know – who will benefit? This workshop will provide a technical overview of the Opportunity Zone program, explore how it could intersect with other community development programs, and describe initiatives looking at workforce housing, grass-roots social enterprise incubation, and faith-based community economic development through locally owned qualified opportunity zone businesses. Participants will learn from the panel how Opportunity Zone and New Markets Tax Credit projects may be structured to maximize community benefits while empowering low-income residents.
