Description

In this sermon Adriana Mondragon-Hill shares a portion of her story as an immigrant to the United States. She describes the shame and guilt she once felt. For a long time her self-image was low because of the many disparaging comments she received from others. A turning point in her life occurred while she was in college at Biola University.  It was there that her self-image became more positive as she learned of God’s love for the sojourner.

We believe that all people have inherited dignity by being created in the image of God.  This is the lesson that Mondragon-Hill is teaching in this sermon. As CCD practitioners we work to empower and uplift the voices of the individuals we work alongside.  Empowerment, however, cannot happen until we fully appreciate the inherent worth God gives all people.

Adriana Mondragon-Hill was born in Guerrero, Mexico, and came to the US with her mother at the age of 5. She graduated from Biola University (in CA) with a BA in psychology. Adriana earned her MA in psychology from Chapman University (in CA) in 2009. In 2012, as a DREAMer, Adriana became a DACA recipient and was able to begin pursuing her license as a Marriage and Family Therapist.
