Impact Investments in Social Determinants of Health — Mark Constantine, Jeff Usher, Pablo Bravo, & Matthew Oldani
A key issue in community development is understanding and addressing the complex, integrated, and overlapping social structures and economic systems that are responsible for most health inequities. These social structures and economic systems include the social environment, physical environment, health services, systemic, and societal factors. Social determinants of health are shaped by the distribution of money, power, and resources, throughout local communities and must be considered. This workshop will provide an introduction in the the concept of social determinants of health, how it intersects with community development and highlight innovative investments designed to make an impact on these structures and systems towards wholistic outcomes.
