Who we are?
We are leaders in the Christian Community Development Association, Jesus followers seeking justice for immigrant friends in our communities.
What we are doing?
We are walking the approximately 150 miles from Tijuana, Mexico to Los Angeles, California, USA from August 20th-30th 2016 highlighting individual stories along the way, on how our current immigration system impacts specific people groups.
Why we are walking?
We are calling for an end to our broken immigration system. We are publicly walking in solidarity with the countless immigrants who migrate to our borders daily. We believe we must not only personally share in this solidarity journey but also prophetically speak truth that is Gospel driven, anchored in relationship and committed to building bridges of understanding and reconciliation for the sake of bringing about just, comprehensive immigration reform.
How to join?
We invite other CCDA practitioners to join us. We also invite partners who share our values and common message of the need for just immigration reform. We ask that anyone who joins us in the effort pre-register at: www.ccda.org/camino/registration
When do we arrive?
You will pick up your registration packet at a to be determined location on Friday, August 19th.
How much does it cost?
The event registration fee is $250. This is the cost for one day or ten. It covers your route application, swag and 10 days of dinner/debrief.
Who is responsible for our hotels/sleeping arrangements?
If you want CCDA to take care of all your accommodation details, i.e. food, hotels, water, rides to location, etc., the cost is $2500 per person. We will be putting together a resource sheet if you want to take care of your own accommodations but need to see local hotels, etc.
How many miles is the route?
The route is spread out over 150 miles but the exact amount of miles walked is 132 miles.
Where does it start?
The trail begins at Border Field State Park’s Friendship Park.
Where do we pay?
Our registration link to begin to collect money will be sent on April 5th.
Should we wait to register until April 5th?
No, you should pre-register now. There is a lot of information to gather and we need to begin the process. Pre-registration does not commit you to the walk, but alerts us to your interest and helps us prepare for the route.
