For decades, we have been seeking the shalom of our communities with our neighbors. As Christian Community Development practitioners, we live, serve, and advocate alongside those on the margins. The violence, fear, and pain unfolding in places like Minneapolis, Los Angeles, DC, Chicago, and so many more of our communities call for a response rooted in faith, compassion, and deep solidarity with our neighbors.
In this moment, we are a community of leaders standing together as the church to reclaim dignity, build community across fear, and bear faithful public witness.
Below are just a few resources to help you lament, learn, and advocate with and for our neighbors. Please share with us resources you have to strengthen our community. #weareccda
Lifting up Minnesota
Here are some of the ways that members are showing up for their neighbors in Minneapolis.
In this video, CCDA member Yonathan Moya reflects on Scripture alongside the realities unfolding in his city of Minneapolis and asks a piercing question: “Where is your heart?”
Here are some ways that you can stand in solidarity with Minnesota.
Lament
We lament what is happening in our communities and to our neighbors, friends, and family. Here are a few resources to help you as you pray and lament individually or as a community.

- Lament Worship Playlist

Listen & Learn
We are so grateful for the shared wisdom of our association. Here are stories and resources from CCDA practitioners that you can learn from now:
Stories
CCDA’s Immigration Network is planning on hosting trainings for the CCDA family. Sessions will include: understanding the impact of ICE enforcement on families and communities; equipping churches and parents to organize and respond to enforcement; exploring immigration law, TPS, and the push–pull factors of migration; grounding our work in a theology of migration; and sustaining leaders through train-the-trainer and community defense practices.
Advocate
Congress faces a critical January 30 deadline to pass federal spending bills, including funding for the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and Customs and Border Protection. The House has already passed a funding package, and the Senate will soon decide whether to advance it as written, amend it, or risk another government shutdown.
This is a tangible opportunity to call our senators and urge accountability, transparency, and humane guardrails in immigration enforcement. Our leaders need to hear clearly that Christians care deeply about policies that reflect both security and compassion—and that protect the dignity of immigrants and the lives of all who are affected.
