Rooted Neighbors: Building Healthy Communities Through Affordable Housing

$5.00

2018 CCDA National Conference — Chicago Workshop

Rooted Neighbors: Building Healthy Communities Through Affordable Housing — Jan van der Woerd & Ryan Schmidt

Healthy communities provide diverse housing opportunities so that neighbors, regardless of income, can stay rooted in their neighborhoods. What are the ways that your organization or church can effectively contribute to housing justice? This session will dive into the development processes involved in 3 different types of affordable housing: single family home ownership; “missing middle” rental housing; and large multi-family developments. Get an introduction to the development process, funding mechanisms for affordable housing, and hear real life experiences about partnering with churches to restore homes in their community for low-income families.
