Description
This workshop explores the historical and contemporary dynamics of the US-Mexico border, tracing roots from Spanish colonization and the Doctrine of Discovery to modern-day Christian nationalism. Participants will examine key aspects like Manifest Destiny, the US-Mexico War, and the settling of the US Southwest. Focused on a 1-acre plot of land along the Camino Real de Tierra Adentro, the workshop highlights the diverse narratives shaping the region, including Native American, African American, and immigrant experiences. The session also looks toward the future, exploring how sacred spaces can foster storytelling, lament, dialogue, healing, and community-building on the border and beyond.
