Description
Richmond is the second largest recovery community in the United States. In many of our neighborhoods, recovery homes and detox centers exist as invisible islands. This workshop moves beyond “outreach” to “faithful presence,” teaching attendees how to build reciprocal relationships within the recovery ecosystem. Featuring a diverse panel of men and women currently in recovery or leading recovery ministries, we will hear firsthand how the Church can move from seeing “addicts to be fixed” to “neighbors to be loved.” We will provide a framework for engagement that respects the dignity of those in recovery while providing the consistent, Jesus-like community necessary for long-term flourishing. Join us to learn how to love like Jesus in the detox centers, sober livings, and recovery communities of your city, moving from isolated service to transformational kinship.
