2020 was always set to be an important year with the census and election, but COVID and more murders of unarmed black men and women have shown us what we already knew – that when the white community gets a cold, communities of color get pneumonia and die. This is not new for us here at CCDA and it is also not a time for our leaders to stand, ill-equipped on the sidelines. In this critical moment, we have to lean in more deeply. We need to force the hand that is writing our history. We MUST do this together. #weareccda
At this moment in history and the church, questions like, “how do I keep my faith as a person of color in America?” are being asked within CCDA. Join CCDA practitioners and Voices Project‘s founders Leroy & Donna Barber as they lead this virtual space. They will be sharing some of their personal journey of staying rooted in their faith and community, while faithfully eating the living bread for Kingdom resistance work.
Everyone is invited to this generous CCDA table but we will be centering the voices and perspectives of people of color. White allies are welcomed to join but will be asked to use a common solidarity screen graphic that will be provided, instead of their video function. You can register for the zoom event here. There are only 100 registered spots available so register quickly. CCDA will be live streaming this event on Facebook @iamccda.
So CCDA family, gather yourselves, your staff, your church, your community, your youth to this virtual CCDA table. Together let’s mobilize in this critical moment, sowing deeply into the movement of community flourishing. Let us purpose as a collective, to change the systems that perpetuate brokenness until justice flows like a river and righteousness like a never-ending stream.
