Optimal maternal and infant health is every mama and every baby’s right! Black mamas and babies health are often disproportionately sabotaged by systemic racism, harmful policies, discrimination, and violence. The maternal mortality rate for Black women is 3 times the rate for white women in the United States. Access to quality health care, structural racism, and implicit bias from health care providers, as well as underlying chronic conditions contribute to this maddening reality. Come learn how this public health crisis is impacting our communities and what we can do to build safer and thriving futures for Black Mamas, their babies, and our whole communities.
