Description
Community development has often centered on human flourishing, leaving the natural world as an afterthought or relegating it to specialized fields like farming or gardening. Yet, Scripture offers a rich ecological imagination—one that calls us into mutual, interdependent thriving with both human and non-human kin.
This workshop invites participants to explore how justice-oriented community development can include land, ecosystems, and non-human life as integral partners in the work of restoration. Through teaching, participatory activities, and group discussions, we will reframe the 8 Principles of CCDA through an ecological lens, cultivating a vision of holistic community transformation that embodies the Kingdom of God. Together, we will ask:
- How can we embrace the land and its inhabitants as collaborators in justice work?
- What shifts in perspective help us see non-human kin as part of our community?
- How might our community development practices foster shared flourishing for all creation?
This session aims to enliven imagination and inspire actionable practices that honor our interdependence with all of creation.
