We stand in solidarity with our CCDA members and immigrant family in Southern California who are reflecting the heart of Christ by protecting the imago Dei in our migrant friends and family. We are especially grateful for those who are “praying with their feet”—shepherding, standing in the gap, and peacemaking both as immigrants and alongside their immigrant neighbors.
We invite you to join us in praying for our communities, churches, and leaders through the following requests shared directly by those on the ground:
For Immigrant Families and Communities
- For individuals detained by ICE in Los Angeles and elsewhere—may they be comforted and given due process.
- For spouses now separated, and for children without a parent today..
- For families already displaced by the wildfires last year and who now face new threats.
- For all those living in fear or hiding—Latine, AANHPI, and other immigrant communities.
- For those grieving the absence of loved ones from their schools, workplaces, and churches.
- For our communities as we navigate internal tensions—generational, cultural, and strategic—that often lead to frustration, impatience, and anger. Pray for humility, grace, and a deepened commitment to collective action grounded in love.
For the Church
- That the church would be a safe, healing refuge for undocumented neighbors.
- That pastors and congregations would receive wisdom and support as they respond.
- That churches would mobilize—not with fear, but with bold compassion and clarity.
- For Brown pastors and immigrant church leaders who are exhausted, disheartened, or feeling immobilized.
For Workers and Local Businesses
- For those who showed up to work only to discover their coworkers or employees were detained or missing
- For immigrant-owned businesses forced to close due to fear or ICE activity, and for the economic ripple effects on entire neighborhoods.
- For business districts that have become ghost towns as families stay home to protect themselves.
- For the tíos and tías—our beloved street vendors and community pillars—who we pass by every day but are now too afraid to show up. May they feel seen, protected, and deeply valued.
For Protection and Justice
- For protection over our cities in the wake of increased ICE presence, Marines, and National Guard deployment.
- For law enforcement—that they would recognize their shared humanity with those they encounter and act with empathy, restraint, and justice.
- For truth to break through harmful narratives that justify violence against immigrants.
- For the safety and public witness of vigils and protests happening across the country.
- For all forms of terror and harassment—like the ICE raid on a church in Downey, CA—to be named, stopped, and met with accountability.
For Faith Leaders on the Frontlines
- For clergy like the pastor in Downey, CA, who faced assault while peacefully protesting.
- For those accompanying immigrants through immigration court proceedings.
- For those boldly speaking out and organizing for justice within their communities.
- For exhausted faith leaders discerning where and how to show up amid so many pressing needs. Pray for wisdom, rest, and clarity as they care for their congregations and communities.
Let’s pray—fervently and faithfully—that God’s shalom would break through the fear of the other, injustice, and separation. Let’s offer a different narrative of our immigrant family and law enforcement made in the Imago Dei and amplify the voices of those directly impacted.
We believe in a God who hears, who sees, and who responds with mercy and justice. May we do the same.
