JOB TITLE AND OVERVIEW
The Minister of Outreach and Missions is responsible for pastoring, leading, and mobilizing the WRCC congregation
in outreach and missions to the Champaign-Urbana community and world. This ministerial role shepherds the WRCC
Free Food Store (food pantry), local community engagement, and global missionary partnerships. The Minister of
Outreach and Missions also serves on the Directional Leadership Team.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
A committed follower of Christ with a passion for evangelism, discipleship, and a desire to see the Great Commission
advanced locally and globally. The Minister of Outreach and Missions will be a planner, mobilizer, connector, and visioncaster – someone who is pastoral and strategic, able to build meaningful partnerships with churches and community
organizations. The ideal candidate will have experience recruiting, onboarding, and developing volunteers. They will
also be familiar with the Chalmers Center’s approach to holistic poverty alleviation (When Helping Hurts). The Minister
of Outreach and Missions should be someone who can build relational trust with people from various racial, cultural,
and socioeconomic backgrounds. Strong communication skills are needed, with the ability to inspire others toward
service and engagement.
HOURS/SCHEDULE
Full-Time position | Tuesday, Thursdays and some Saturdays required
COMPENSATION
Salary range commensurate with experience and education. Vacation and medical benefits included.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Free Food Store Ministry (40%) | The WRCC Free Food Store provides local community members with a food pantry
shopping experience that is trauma-informed and empowerment based. In 2025, we averaged 762 shoppers per
month.
• Strategically lead and implement long-term plans to serve physical needs of local community
• Direct operations for Free Food Store ministry (i.e., food deliveries, shopping days)
• Support Free Food Store Coordinator with execution of ministry initiatives
• Oversee budget by responsibly managing spending, donations, and ministry funds
• Welcome, support, and equip volunteers through training and education
• Build and maintain partnerships with local organizations and donors
Global Missions (25%) | WRCC currently has 13 long-term partnerships with global missionaries across the world. We
intentionally support them via the ministry of presence, provision, and prayer.
• Maintain communication and relationships with global partners (i.e., mission organizations and partner
missionaries) to assess needs and church involvement
• Support fundraising initiatives (e.g., Meals on Mission)
• Plan, promote, and lead short-term missions trips as needed
• Facilitate global missions committee meetings and prayer gatherings
Pastoral Care & Administration (25%)
• Sunday morning duties, hospital visits, funerals, preaching, weddings, etc. as needed
• Facilitate weekly meetings with Outreach and Missions Team
• Execute ongoing communication plans to engage WRCC in local and global outreach
• Maintain records of ministry activity and outcomes, and report to senior leadership, Elders, and congregation
as needed.
• Other responsibilities and projects as assigned by Senior Minister
Other Local Outreach (10%) | WRCC partners with 15 organizations and non-profits within the C-U community.
• Maintain regular interaction with community leaders (i.e., local schools, social services, city officials, churches,
etc.) and explore partnership opportunities
• Evaluate viable local ministry partnerships; ensure they are in alignment with WRCC’s vision

• A Local and Global Outreach Ministry aligned with WRCC’s vision, particularly to be a church “thoroughly
equipped to serve and contagiously influencing our world for Him.”
• A thriving, spiritually healthy Free Food Store that is trauma-informed and empowerment-focused, offering
sustainable support, genuine hospitality, and meaningful connection.
• A mobilized congregation actively engaged in service opportunities across C-U and the world
• Strong collaboration and open communication with WRCC staff and ministry teams
• Healthy, ongoing relationships with global partners, marked by regular communication and periodic visits
• Volunteer leaders who are supported and encouraged toward sustainable rhythms of service and rest.
• A Christ-centered witness in Champaign-Urbana and beyond, known for love, compassion, hospitality, and the
meeting of physical needs
• A congregation that is informed, resourced, and educated on the topics of outreach, missions, and evangelism
at WRCC
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
• Integrity traits of local church leadership (cf. 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, 1 Peter 5)
• Commitment to Kingdom Diversity, especially in regard to multiethnic and multigenerational ministry
• Competency in spiritual gifts of administration, evangelism, and teaching
• Full agreement with WRCC’s Statement of Faith and an appreciation for our congregation’s theological
distinctives (see website for details)
Preferred
• Three or more years of ministry experience in local church or mission field
• Master of Divinity (or equivalent)
• Fluency in Spanish
• Ordination (completed or pending
