POSITION SUMMARY: World Relief Chicagoland is looking to hire an Early Childhood Program Coordinator that will work within a new group programming initiative for Afghan women, to provide a robust program for Afghan children under 5 years of age while their mothers attend cultural orientation classes. This position will be based at both the Carol Stream location and the Aurora location.
The Afghan Women’s Group Early Childhood Program Coordinator has the primary responsibility to help prepare Afghan children for future success in an elementary school classroom environment and to create a safe space for Afghan children in their adjustment to life in the US. The early childhood program will complement the cultural orientation for Afghan women and will support orientation-based activities of the group. This position also plays a key role in coordinating a volunteer staff in a nurturing, English language rich classroom, while connecting volunteers to refugee and immigrant families so that the entire family can be served in reaching their educational and cultural adjustment goals.
