Everyone is welcome to attend and pre-registration ($35) is required. Lunch and dinner will not be included so please plan accordingly. Space is limited.

Pre-conference registration is closed for all National Conference events. You can still register on-site at the conference. Registration opens again on October 12, at the JW Marriott at 11am.

  • Wholistic Approach, taught by Antoine Bennett and Patty Prasado-Rao

Based on a Biblical theology of “wholeness,” this class focuses on integrating faith and appropriate program development to address people’s wholistic needs. Children and youth programs will be discussed along with adult special needs, including job programs, literacy, homelessness, alcohol/drug rehabilitation and basic needs assistance.

  • Indigenous Leadership Development, taught by Esperanza Martinez

Indigenous leaders’ presence in every area of ministry and leadership fuels the sustainability of an effective Christian Community Development ministry. This class teaches Biblical principals and best practices to create a ministry culture where men and women are prepared to become the next generation of church and community leaders.

  • Listening to the Community, taught by Bethany Dudley

Christian Community Development (CCD) affirms the dignity of individuals and encourages the engagement of the community to use their own resources and assets to create sustainable change. CCD philosophy believes the people with the problem have the best solutions and opportunities to solve those problems. This class provides tools for discovering the assets of our communities.

  • Church Based Community Development, taught by Darryl Saffore

Christian Community Development sees the church as an active participant in the development of its community. Ideas and ministry programs should emerge from the life and presence of the church body in its neighborhood. We will explore the various philosophies of church ministry; understand the distinctions between a community and “parish” church; and examine the core competencies of a church-based community development ministry.

  • Transformational Urban Church Planting (Evangelical Covenant Church), taught by Don Davenport, Peter Sung, and Henry Greenidge

This class provides an opportunity for current and potential urban church planters to receive insights from seasoned church planters in the dynamic and transformative nature of urban church planting based on Christian Community Development. Biblical teaching, real life examples and interactive dialogue will create an environment for interaction and learning.
