We’re excited to announce several of our speakers for the 2015 National Conference in Memphis, November 11-14. In the upcoming months, we’ll be introducing the speakers we look forward to welcoming to this year’s gathering.
Already, we have an amazing line-up of teachers, practitioners, and leaders from all over the country, including several local leaders from Memphis that are doing incredible work in our host city. We are working hard to include people who represent a local, national, and global voice. Our speakers will spend time unpacking this year’s theme, Illuminate, and how the invitation of Matthew 5:14-16 affects our embodiment of the light of Christ as we seek transformation and justice in our communities. We anticipate this year’s speakers will remind us of how our past shapes us, reflecting on our current realities, and casting a vision for a future filled with God’s grace and justice.
It is such a pleasure to announce that our worship leader for the conference will be Pastor Jonathan Brooks, from Canaan Community Church on the south side of Chicago. “Pastah Jay,” as he is affectionately known, brought some serious soul to last year’s choir performance. We’re excited to have Jonathan lead us in worship throughout our gathering in Memphis. We’ll also be hearing from Jonathan as a speaker on Wednesday night of the conference.
We are equally excited to have Erna Hackett returning as our emcee for our time in Memphis. Erna did such a phenomenal job challenging, guiding, and caring for us in Raleigh-Durham last year, we couldn’t imagine Memphis without her. If you missed her last year, Erna is a member of CCDA’s 5th Leadership Cohort. She spent the last 20 years living in L.A., loving college students. She recently moved to Portland, OR, where she is pursuing her Masters in Intercultural Studies. We’re so pleased to have Erna’s pastoral and prophetic presence on the stage again this year.
