No Need for a Food Desert
Come join the Logan family garden center business for an exciting tour of a community garden they have sown just outside the city limits of Raleigh. This garden plus other community growing efforts have produced over 27,000 pounds of fresh food this last year for surrounding areas of need. The community garden you’ll visit is working toward the next phase of ”flourishing” by adding fish farming, honey production, plus chickens and other animals for a totally self-sustaining community. Have lunch by the pond around the fire pit and hear about exciting ideas that you can take back and cultivate in your community!
About Logan Trading Co:
Logan Trading Co (fondly known as Logan’s garden shop) is a third generation owned and operated garden center in the heart of downtown Raleigh. Logan’s is focused on community development and enrichment. They are in their sixth year of spearheading a program called Plant A Row for the Hungry which provided over 27,000 pounds of fresh produce to the food shelters and the most needy neighborhoods in their city. In their next phase of growing the program they have now started a large community garden in a near by town with hopes of teaching people how to grow and provide for their families, as well as developing the kind of community that can only flourish when everyone is willing to get their hands dirty and work together. This is one of several dreams coming to fruition as the third generation moves the business into the future with a vision of “Enriching lives and cultivating community through our service to one another.”
